Add-on Licensure
Curriculum and Instruction Specialist
Program Description
The Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction and the Curriculum and Instruction Specialist License programs will undergo review as we engage in planning connected with a reorganization of the School of Education’s academic structure.
For this reason, new admissions to the program will be suspended. There will be no new admissions for the 2009-2010 academic year.
The School of Education is strongly committed to Curriculum and Instruction as a field of study for education professionals, and we appreciate your interest in our offerings.
The Curriculum and Instruction Specialist add-on Licensure Program is designed to prepare educators for positions of leadership in curriculum and instruction. The earned license is Curriculum and Instructional Specialist at the Master’s Level.
Specialists in curriculum and instruction are professionals whose primary concern is improving learning opportunities through providing instructional leadership. Most graduates of the licensure program are public school central office general directors of instruction or specialty area instructional directors, general or specialty area supervisors, or lead or mentor teachers. Graduates may also serve with a variety of state or national education agencies such as State Departments of Public Instruction or Education or Regional Educational Centers.
Students applying to add-on Curriculum and Instruction specialist licensure must already have a master's degree and a teaching license. To obtain the license, students are also required to pass the Curriculum and Instructional Specialist Praxis examination 10410 Educational Leadership: Administration and Supervision. The Curriculum and Instruction specialist add-on is licensure only. A degree is not earned in this program.
